For the homeowner, summertime means experiencing the indescribable joy of lawn care. Manicured lawns are beautiful, but they’re also hard work! Have you noticed that you don’t have to do anything for weeds to grow in your yard? They just keep showing up, uninvited and unwanted. They invade and infect without any assistance. Unless you have a plan of attack, weeds will eventually do what weeds were meant to do—take over! In one of his parables, Jesus used the metaphor of weeds to describe the competitors to the kind of productive life he desires to give us. So, what can we learn from what Jesus had to say about weeds?
